Helping Japan “To help our Japanese friends, we at Marimekko decided to produce a special Unikko-patterned fabric bag and to donate the proceeds from the sales of the bag to Japan through the Red Cross. The cherished classic was printed in the colours of the Finnish and Japanese flags – blue, red and white. The new, unique colourway was co-created by Kristina and Emma Isola. The bags are available from the end of April in Marimekko’s own shops in Finland as well as Berlin, London, Stockholm and Malmö. All sales proceeds will go to help the victims of the disaster. Bags will also be donated for sale in Japan.”

Design Helps!!!

3.11 の震災で壊滅的な打撃を受けた宮城県気仙沼市。その気仙沼を再生すべく、水産加工業を営む八葉水産のメンバーと、漁業関係者のエプロンや布製品を手がけていたメンバーが集­まり、日々生活できるための仕事を作っていく。地元に生きづく縫製技術を使い、東北の地名が入った帆前掛けの布による頒布（かばん）を作り始めた、GANBAARE（ガン­バーレ）の奮闘を追う。
